Stuart is global head of the Clean Technology and Renewables Group at Goldman Sachs. This group is responsible for advising, financing and investing in cleantech companies globally. Stuart is head of the Clean Technology and Renewables (CTR) Business Selection Committee and co-head of the firm’s CTR Investment Committee. In 2008, Banker Magazine named Goldman Sachs "Most Innovative in Initial Public Offerings" based on the work of Stuart's team earlier that year. He first joined Goldman Sachs in 1986 and rejoined the firm in 1993. Stuart was named managing director in 1999 and partner in 2000. Prior to re-joining the firm, Stuart worked on private equity investments. Stuart is a member of the Dean’s Alumni Leadership Council at the Harvard Kennedy School and the board of the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He is also a member of NRDC's Center for Market Innovation Advisory Council and an advisor to the Berkeley Energy & Climate Institute (BECI) and the Energy Institute at Haas. Stuart earned a BS, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1985. He earned an MBA and an MPA in 1991 from the Harvard Business School and the Harvard Kennedy School, respectively. Stuart and his wife, Marcella, have three children and reside in Palo Alto, California.
